This was an interesting show to say the least
The rest of the band really sounded amazing. Regardless of what was actually going on with Bobby, the show went on. There was laughter and tears, but they were back in full force the next day. Good to find out that Bob is ok, I guess it's just water under the bridge.

"train wreck" might not be the right term, but...
i was there. i have seen plenty of shows. i think furthur can be as great as the dead. this was a very (very) "off" night for bobby-- the wife and i spent more time worrying about him than we did enjoying the show.
anyway, i'm glad to hear all is well with him and the band. would love it if someone could post the following night

guys....come on
We were at this show. Hardly a "train-wreck". Yea, bob did seem really confused and out of it for quite a bit of the show, but saying that this show was a trainwreck is really disrespecting the rest of the band. cold rain and snow, st. stephen, stella blue, rider, even shakedown was great. bob poked around for a while, but he was really feeling it. and man, midi flute on row jimmy! that was really awesome. the only train-wreck about this show was the crowd. Really nasty vibes and I saw about 4 or 5 people dancing, at least until everyone was super drunk and danced for rider. people were REALLY possesive about personal space (We were told a few times "you can't stand here, this is our spot") and ratio of creepy dudes to nice people was really out of wack. St. Stephen was worth it though. Definitely not the best show ever, but people are making it out to be much worse than it was.

Bobby Melt !!
Tough ticket into this show. I had four tickets for the first night and there was only two of us. It took forever to trade for the next night, but we worked the square and both got in both nights.Small venue definitely over crowded. Bobby almost fell down during El Paso. I later heard that an allergic reaction to some medication was the cause of the meltdown. He recovered slowly as the show went on. The next night was rockin'. It was a little troubling seeing our frail little leader fumble like that, but I guess a few fumbles in a 40 some odd year career is forgivable. There are a lot of Bobby haters out there, that's even more troubling. Great Stella Blue.....JA

Beleive me..it was a trainwreck
Not much needs to be said, I was there, disaster of a show. Not a biggie, next night was much better. This band was allowed a bad night. They have been a pleasure to listen and watch.

bobby
maybe when he tried to sing the bewomen, it threw him off, and of course when you start having a bad trip it snowballs of course with all eyes on him, in new york, in a small place no less. To be honest, considering how painful the el paso was, bob sounded like he had it together as soon as dire wolf started. Sounded like good rythem guitar to me.
I loved the row jimmy with John on vocals. This is the first one he sang. It is kinda a mix of 1974 and 89...with lots of midi during the solo. Also noteworthy is the cold rain with john on vocals. very nice. this is a very clear good recording.

Train Wreck?
I was not at this show, but my brother was. Supposedly someone sipped Bobby something and he was out of it. Granted, E Paso was a compete train wreck, but the rest of the show Bobby is alsmost there. Considering Bobby's condition, this show was not a complete train wreck. Kudo's to the rest of the band for picking up the slack.
